Tarps made up of canvas (muslin) are the most versatile tarps in the market. They are widely used because of their features like water-resistant, flame resistant and are not easily torn. Canvas tarps available in the market are of multiple fabric gauges for example 10 ounce to 17 ounces. The durability of the fabric depends upon how Havier the tarp is. Canvas tarps come in multiple sizes. Thus, they can be used for multiple purposes. For example, Canvas tarps are widely used in camping because of fire and water-resistant nature.
A Canvas tarp can also be used to protect the furniture while panting. However, a disposable plastic tarp is also used here. But since a canvas tarp can be used again and again, it is highly preferred. It is also less slippery than a plastic tarp. This way it can provide more safety as there is less chance of injury due to falling. Except for Canvas tarps, there are three types of tarps available in the market. These are poly tarp, vinyl tarp and PVC tarps.
Poly tarps are made of heavy-duty plastic so they are also used by most of the backpackers. Vinyl tarps are made up of ethylene molecule so they are stronger than the poly tarps. They are used in covering furniture. PVC tarps are mostly used in industries. They are highly durable and flexible.
